
Batten Seam
This is a traditional technique involving timber battens and capping strips. The zinc sheets and long zinc strips are held in place by a zinc batten clip supporting the peripheral upstands. The capping strips are placed in position by overlapping, thus ensuring that the roof is water tight. This technique creates an impression of strong, conspicuous contours and is often used for its shadow effects and urban character.

Characteristics of this technique
- Zinc plus is installed on minimum thickness 19mm plywood over a breathable anti abrasive building paper
- A 40 mm continuous air gap must be left clear beneath the plywood, on all roof pitches..
- Continuous ventilation openings are made at the top and bottom.

- All shapes: flat, curved, concave, convex, conical, domes.
- Pitches: Minimum pitch 3° (5%).
Support
The support must be:
- 19 mm plywood rigid and continuous, with a minimum 40 mm ventilation cavity that is unobstructed
- Meet loading requirements in conformity with a minim um pull out strength of 50 daN for each clip.
- Rest on at least 3 bearing structure elements.
- Have no protruding elements.
