VM ZINC® BASICS
PREMIUMZINC labels and ISO certification
Umicore Building Products has a firm commitment to a strong quality policy.
The first step was ISO 9002 certification in 1997, followed by ISO 9001-1994 certification, then ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2003.
All VM ZINC® rolled zinc products are certified according to the EN 988 standard.
Beyond that, VM ZINC® has its own more stringent quality label, PREMIUM ZINC.
PREMIUMZINC Label
All our rolled zinc product range is guaranteed by conforming to the EN 988 standard (specifications for flat rolled zinc products for the building industry) which is an indispensable reference for quality. VM ZINC®, wishing to ensure that the quality of its rolled zinc would surpass the existing standard, has put in place the PREMIUMZINC quality label. This label has stricter requirements than the EN 988 for chemical composition, dimensions and mechanical resistance. Furthermore, tests have been introduced for PREMIUMZINC, which guarantee that our transformer customers will find the zinc easier to transform.
Thus, when you see PREMIUMZINC marked on our coils, you will know you have the highest quality zinc currently available on the market.
European EN 988 and PREMIUMZINC quality requirements are met as shown in the following table:
