CLADDING
ADEKA®

What is ADEKA®?

ADEKA® is an innovative patented façade system based on small pre-formed QUARTZ-ZINC® and ANTHRA-ZINC® elements featuring a unique locking key. This ingenious easy to install system allows long term weatherproofing for facades.

ADEKA® is a complete system which includes a full range of flashings to handle all façade situations. ADEKA® is an ideal solution for all sizes of flat facades. Less than 10 ADEKA® elements are needed to cover 1 m² and the easy assembly (no mechanical tools necessary) of ADEKA® improves zinc laying time.

Areas of application

Suitable for facades up to 20 meters in height.
New construction or renovation.
All climates. For mountain areas, additional waterproofing is necessary, for windy regions, please consult VM ZINC® Australia.

Panel Dimensions

Lozenge-shaped element measuring 400x400 mm.

Aspects

QUARTZ-ZINC®
ANTHRA-ZINC®
0.65 mm

Characteristics of this technique

  • A polystyrene wedge is bonded to the underside of the ADEKA® and ensures the rigidity of the panel.
  • Aesthetic aspect of diamond shaped elements.
  • 15 mm plywood ventilated by a 20 mm ventilation air gap. Air inlet and air outlet are required at the top and bottom.
  • Light weight (750g) and suitable for all types of structures
  • ADEKA® elements are weather resistant thanks to the 5 cm overlap, raised edges at the top, and dropped edges on the bottom, and a polystyrene wedge bonded to the underside of the ADEKA®.
Components Dimension
Thickness 0.65 mm
Maximum Panel width (CTC) Center to Center distance 205 mm
Minimum Pitch 33%
Maximum Panel Dimensions 400 x 400 mm
Panels /m² 9.2 units/m²

Installation

1 ADEKA® is laid on 19mm plywood and a separation membrane (i.e. tyvek) should be laid before installing the panel.
For 20° - 30° (36% - 60%) roofs use a continuous deck. For roofs steeper than 30° (60%) or facades, ADEKA® can be laid on battens with 203 mm centre-to-centre span. The support must be continuous for 40 cm adjacent to special features such as corner or bottom flashing.
2 Mark out lines on the deck every 56 cm (or 28 cm) at right angles to the baseline. These will be used to line the ADEKA® elements up with the alignment guide on each element.
3 Begin laying from the eaves up, folding the locking key under the fold of the eaves flashing.
4 Insert the ADEKA® element via the locking key into the appropriate grooves made in the lower elements. Then fix each ADEKA® onto the wooden deck in the pre drilled holes.
  • Around flashings, ADEKA® elements may be cut to size using shears.
  • In some cases, you will need to drill additional screw holes into the re-sized ADEKA® elements. Waterproof by placing a neoprene washer on the screw. Resized ADEKA® elements can also be fixed using one clip or several additional clips.
  • For ADEKA® elements that overlap with flashing accessories, cut away the polystyrene wedge so that it does not overlap the flashing.
Recommended Fastenings

Fastener for ADEKA®: wood screws 300 Series Stainless Steel.
All fasteners have to be countersunk in pre-punched holes in order to eliminate the risk of contact and abrasion between the fastener head and the panel. Fasteners shall be selected to resist all negative design load requirements. Minimum pullout strength: 50 daN.
